Helvetica
The Helvetica typeface—and its many descendants and derivatives—has become so ubiquitous in our day-to-day lives that it is easy to forget how transformative good design can be. Every day, I look at thousands of Helvetica characters as I read and write email in Apple Mail, and you are probably using Helvetica, Arial, or one of the myriad of derivatives that Apple, Microsoft, Linux, Google, and others include by default in software.
